Open the gates to the world of caravanning holidays.
For many years, interest in individual, flexible and nature-oriented holiday and leisure activities has been growing steadily. And what form of holiday is better suited to these requirements than caravanning? The number of new registrations by the Federal Motor Transport Authority also remains high, with a total of 17,334 caravans and 66,898 motorhomes registered between January and October 2025. So if you're looking for inspiration for your next dream holiday in a motorhome or caravan, be sure to plan a visit to the ABF in Hanover. From 11 to 15 February 2026, the exhibition centre will showcase the fascinating world of caravanning with the latest generation of recreational vehicles and their forward-looking trends.
Well-known brands such as Adria, Carthago, Dethleffs, Forster, Hobby, Hymer, Knaus, Pössl, Tabbert and numerous other companies will be exhibiting their new products for 2026 from their wide-ranging portfolios. But numerous smaller manufacturers will also be presenting what is possible in terms of layout, safety and equipment, including in the panel van sector. In three halls covering more than 35,000 square metres, caravanning enthusiasts can once again find out from manufacturers and trading partners how quickly the industry is responding to new market requirements. Advanced safety systems, environmentally friendly materials and the increasing digitalisation of motorhomes and caravans are important topics. With regard to the latter, the CI-BUS communication system, for example, allows various devices and functions within the on-board network to be monitored and controlled via smartphone. Rapid development is underway in this area to ensure high standards and high data rates in the future. Software updates, remote maintenance and optimal safety standards are among the important components.
From lightweight, minimalist mini caravans to family-friendly layouts with children's rooms, from off-road, self-sufficient panel vans to luxury motorhomes with vehicle garages, the ABF offers an impressive cross-section of products. The currently popular car roof tents, awnings, folding caravans and accessories are also on display in Halls 21, 24 and 25. Once again this year, the topic of van life deserves special attention. Van converters from various brands will present individual concepts and give valuable tips to anyone interested in converting their own vehicle. Specialist lectures and travel reports round off the topic nicely.
New in 2026: The ROOF TENT HUB, a central, cross-brand presentation and consultation area dedicated to roof tents. The ROOF TENT HUB will be presented for the first time at the ABF in Hanover in 2026. Covering an area of almost 200 square metres, visitors will be able to directly compare and experience roof tents from different manufacturers and seek advice from experienced roof tent experts. The aim is to get potential customers excited about roof tents, provide them with sound information and guide them on their way to a purchase decision.
Friso Richter and Gregor Meyle have been secured as special guests.
Gregor Meyle will be performing acoustic versions of his songs with his band at VANLIFFE@NIGHT on 13 February and talking about his camping experiences.
Friso Richter (known from the TV show ‘Der Camping Check’) will be recording his podcast ‘Natural Born Campers’ live at the ABF on 11 February together with Melli & Martin – featuring funny, bizarre and surprising camping stories.
