The story of punii began in New Zealand in 2004, when our founder Eva, an exchange student, discovered the culture of the Māori – their language, their deep connection to nature and their outlook on life.
The word puni means tent or camp – a place of rest, protection and arrival. This idea stayed with us.
Ten years later, with a second-hand Golf estate car and a roof tent on the roof, we set off across Europe for the first time. Our love of simple travel and being outdoors grew – as did our family. But when we looked for a new roof tent, we realised that what we wanted didn't exist.
So we made it ourselves – and punii was born.
Today, we develop high-quality roof tents and well-designed camping accessories for people who feel at home outdoors. For families who want to be flexible on the road. For couples on spontaneous road trips.
